A Carmelite in Flanders

A Carmelite in Flanders

Life of Ana of San Bartolomé, inseparable companion of Teresa of Jesus

This documentary explores the exceptional life of Blessed Ana of San Bartolomé, a humble peasant from Toledo who became the shadow of Teresa of Jesus. She was her companion, secretary, nurse, and confidante, and it was in her arms where the great saint of Ávila wished to die.

Ana of San Bartolomé was chosen to establish the Teresian work in France and Flanders, where she became counselor to Infanta Isabel Clara Eugenia and a spiritual beacon for Europe during her time. She culminated her life in the Carmelite convent of Antwerp, from where her legacy and memory continue to spread.

The documentary, of absolute historical rigor, has been filmed in the cloisters of Spanish, French, and Belgian Carmelites and includes interviews with specialists on her life.
